I first off want to say that Bangkok Sala Cafe is a trillion times better. Its located on 12 mile and Orchard Lake. I ordered the samething I had a few days earlier at Bangkok Sala Cafe.....Curry Pad Thai. It just wasnt the same. I cleaned my plate at Sala Cafe and seemed to be forcing myself to eat the same dish at Spicy Bangkok. The service was a little....strange. That is the best way to put it. Strange. They seemed to be doing "ok" on carry out. My sister (I'm her tag along/partner in crime when it comes to good Thai/food) ordered the Pad Se-Ew. Meh. I thought it was WAY to sweet. ** OH! The reason why we came to this place in the first place was because my precious Sala Cafe is Closed on Sundays... :( I was soooooo sad! *** Anyways the bottom line is "me no likey" and nope I wont be going back. At Sala Cafe they give you a complimentry Sweet and Sour soup, amazing service, fresh food that is "plate lickin good" and so cozy and I just love it. Sorry, but I agree with Christine M. Food was Bland. People, save your money and go try Bangkok Sala Cafe......instead of spending your bucks here, save it for a place that is out of this world amazing. So far, that place is my #1 Thai place. XOXO happy yelping people!!!!

Sorry folks. Went here very recently and it was just not good. I noticed a lot of people there for carry out. We had a nice roomy table for the 4 of us. Service was good. Food was not so good. Flavor was totally lacking. One thing I do like is that they have a kids menu which is kind of nice. Whatever you order there comes with fried rice for the kids. Works out. We had the fried catfish and 3 meats fried rice. They were just ok. bland. Good for feeding my kids, not so much me.

The curry and the chicken satays are good. beware that the spiciness level is pretty high here. Also prices are a bit expensive for a "cheap" Thai restaurant.

My initial plan was to go to the coffee house next door. But saw this place and was hungry anyways and decided that I was craving Thai food :-). So general decor and look of the restaurant needs work. It's very plain and needs some revamping. Staff was polite and prompt. She brought me those airy little crispy chips in a basket (I don't know what they are called). I felt like maybe they were a little stale but I ate them anyways because they are yummy. I ordered the curry thai noodle entree with chicken. It was $10 but the portion was huge! Honestly I could have split that with three people and still would have had enough to eat. But it was delicious and had just the right amount of spice for me. The waitress was also helpful in advising me on the level of spice in certain dishes so I can make the right choice upon ordering. As of now that's all I have to base my review off of. -1 star for stale chips and decor. 4 stars on the quality and taste of my entree.

Good Pad Thai. I always order the Pad Thai. They had nice service. It was quick and good.

Were so glad we tried this place for the first time. A lot of the Thai restaurants in the Novi area only had 3 stars and were just that... Mediocre, but this place has nicely surprised us. Good food, friendly/fast wait staff, and decent prices. Good choices on menu including Pho, which I've yet to try. The egg rolls and crispy rolls were muchhhh better than the spring rolls which were too tiny, dry, and lacked good flavor. I got the matsemon which was very tasty. Sauce not too runny and potatoes with nice semi-crispy texture.

I love this place! The Thai peanut chicken is phenomenal. I order take out from here at least twice a month. The food is pricey, but it is worth it. They are never really busy inside. I will continue to come back for more

The yellow curry here was amazing! Very cool how they included crispy potato medallions. Amazing having that crunchy contrast.

The pad ped was amazing today!! Only question is what happened to the eggplant? Or maybe they has a different recipe. Regardless, medium plus was the perfect heat and it was tasty! Great veggie spring rolls also.

I LOVE this place. Ever since my mom introduced me to this restaurant, I have been coming back ever since. Their fresh rolls are delicious, and even their pad ped is amazing. Just the right amount of seasonings, and not too salty. The only complaint I have is their lunch hours over the weekend. They open at 3pm on Sundays for dinner only, which was a big bummer. Other than that this place is a must try if you're in the area!

At this point, I think I prefer Thai food over Chinese food. This Thai place is in a strip mall beside a diner and a coffee place. It's a smallish place, with 10 booths and 10 tables. We went for lunch and every seat in the place was taken up, with two large company outings. It has a good size menu with lunch specials. Service was fast and efficient. They start you out with the soup of the day and then your entree. They have large water glasses. One word of warning, their spice rating are stronger than other places. My medium was fine, but the heat level was hotter for another person in our group. My Potato curry was good - one of my favorite dishes, and so were the drunken noodles. I'll be back, if I'm headed that way.

came here with my family for my mom's birthday and i'm really glad we tried it. the place is situated in a strip mall set back from the road, so it's a little hidden. on a saturday night, we were only one of two tables at a time, so it was pretty empty. we got the tom yum soup, spicy squid, beef pad thai, pork pad pak, curry duck, and fried ice cream. the soup was pretty good, but not outstanding. i would get it again though since i almost always get that at a thai place. the spicy squid was really great and was just like the kind you get at dim sum. it was a really tiny portion so maybe if you've got four people, get two. the pad thai was too sweet for me, but i rarely have pad thai, so i don't know if it's sweeter than it normally is. the pad pak was really good with lots of fresh veggies. it was really salty, but tasted right. the duck was fried to crispy perfection and the curry it was in was creamy and delicious. i really recommend the duck. the fried ice cream we had for dessert was terrible. the outside was really mushy and the ice cream tasted like freezer a little. but it was a huge portion, if that helps. service was really good! our waitress was super nice and the much needed water refills came frequently. i also noticed that they had pho on the menu. not sure if i'd risk trying it here but there are no other places to get pho around here that i know of, so it's tempting to try maybe if i come back. also, there seems to be a lot of coupons for this place, so clip one if you're going to go anyway!

Another hidden gem in the Novi/Farmington Hills area. Great thai food and a friendly wait staff. The owner is a very nice older lady that always greets us when we stop by. The food can be on the spicy side (fine with me), so if you are used to ordering medium, try mild-plus for the same heat. This is one of the few restaurants in area that serve Pho. I usually have to drive to one of the Vietnamese restaurants in Madison Heights to get Pho. Maybe not the best Pho in the world, but good enough to avoid a 30 minute drive across the county. Prices area very reasonable and we routinely receive coupons in our local mailer. This place is definitely worth a try and is already starting to gain popularity judging by the lunch crowd.

Clean looking restaurant. Fresh very good food. I had the drunken noodle but it didn't have enough shrimp.

Delicious Pad Thai ! I like it try that first at a Thai restaurant. If they do that right then that is a good gauge for how good the other dishes are. As I said delicious Pad Thai!!!

They're Pad Thai is da' bomb! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is new to this area. No dish is a bad choice! Their sweet and sour soup that they give during lunch is absolutely delicious!!!! The reason why I'm giving four stars instead of five, is due to the fact that if you dine-in, they are pretty bad about filling your water cups in a timely manner. If that wasn't an issue, 5 stars, hands down!

We ordered the pad see ew chicken, butterfly shrimp, potstickers and the apple salad. Pad see ew chicken was good. Pretty regular meal. The butterfly shrimp were excellent! Potstickers were good also. Apple salad had generous portions of chicken and shrimp. I would recommend ordering the dressing on the side. Meal was prompt and good. We will for sure come back!

Huge portions! The boy and I shared two noodles dishes, peanut noodles with shrimp and drunken noodles with chicken, and we had leftovers for days. By the menu description, the peanut noodles seemed almost identical to the pad thai but with some additional veggies. It turned out to have an odd creamy taste to me, perhaps some sort of heavier peanut sauce. I liked the soy-based drunken noodles better. We both like spicy, and their medium level spice was a good choice, any higher might've been intolerable. We did our best to eat our fill of delicious noodles but it was one of those instances where it seems like one doesn't make a dent in the food on the plate. Random location for a good, generous Thai meal!

I recently ordered takeout. Just FYI, on Saturday they have changed their hours so they don't open until 3 pm. I called and my order was ready in 15 minutes. I got the spring rolls as well as the chicken pad ped. I ordered it hot. They have five levels of spice with "hot" being in the middle. These people do not play, it is super spicy. The lady on the phone asked me if I was sure I wanted it hot. I love the spiciest Thai possible and most places, I order "Thai hot" or as hot as they will make it for me. I'm glad I held back a bit because their "hot" is what I would consider the hottest that most other restaurants prepare their curries. "On fire" must be downright miserable. I would think only people who truly want to torture themselves or someone else would order it that hot. The food was good, I really liked it and I will continue to eat there.

Got 2 coupons for this place last week (One for 15% overall bill and the other 2 pad thai dishes lunch special for $12) tonight we used the 15% off the bill coupon. I am a huge fan of thai cuisine and love trying new places and was excited to get these coupons for a place I haven't tried near the area I live. So there were 3 in our party, the place was in a nice location, big windows, small dining space but the service was super quick and efficient. Place was pretty busy with take out orders during our dining experience but that didn't put us off, I like when a place is somewhat busy as it shows it must be pretty good haha! Anyways sorry to drag this on lol I like to give accurate accounts on here as I like reading the long reviews myself. Also apologies for the use of lol too. I ordered the pad prick (hot but the waiter told me that they do things a lot lot spicy here so said the medium-hot would be more appetizing and still plenty spicy so I took his advice) and the spring rolls to start. My two friends each got the red thai curry, I believe the second on the thai curry menu, one mild and one medium (Can't remember the name). I cook a lot of green and red curry at home week nights from week to week so I always go for other dishes when dining out. The spring rolls came out pretty fast, but they were so teeny tiny like smaller than ones you buy at the supermarket. They came with some generic duck sauce (Which I added some dry chillies to that are in a container on your table when you sit down. Then I wasn't halfway through my spring rolls when the mains came out. The portions are big and you definitely won't leave hungry! I must have gotten 4 full size peppers in my whole dish haha! As I took my fourth and fifth bites the spice really kicked in and I basically started feeling numbness in my tongue and guzzled down a coke and two glasses of water. I managed to finish the dish though, safe for a few peppers and leftover veggies. The curry's were nice too I had a taste of the sauce and it was a really nice one compared to others I have tasted in restaurants previously. Each dish comes with an appropriate amount of white rice (Brown sub at an extra cost) We didn't sample the desserts as we were so full but this restaurant overall was really nice and before the coupon our total was $35 something then after it came down to $29 something and for 3 people dining was pretty reasonable. Would definitely like to return and sample the drunken noodles, have been meaning to order them each time I eat out in a thai place but then see something else that I have to try. Anyone in the area should give it a try some day, maybe for lunch as the prices are $2 cheaper for main course dishes and they also do other specials directly for lunch time. Oh and I docked a star mainly for the quality of the tiny spring rolls.

The Thai options in this area have been completely lackluster until this little gem opened up. Very simple and ordinary inside but the food has been consistently good the 10 or so times I've eaten here. Highly recommend!

Good Thai food and good portion sizes. I got the Pad Khing and was happy with my choice. I also ordered a spring roll and it was pretty good. Servers were very nice and attentive. I like that they are open Sundays.

They are a really friendly staff. However, I can find better Thai elsewhere. I ordered the crispy duck. They literally gave me half a duck with more bones than meat. The cabbage was also very bland.

I get Thai food a few times a month, and this is my current favorite. I usually come for lunch. One of the best parts of Spicy Bangkok is the soup of the day. You can tell that the soup is fresh. Even though the soups are very similar throughout the week, they taste great. It's not a gelatinous soy-colored soup like some places. I like the curries and noodles and fried rice dishes. Every once in a while, I try the weekly special. Some are better than others. I haven't loved them all, and find myself going back to the curry dishes. I noticed pho on the menu, which I would like to try. And bubble tea. Thai iced tea is good. Our favorites: Pad Thai Curry Fried Rice Drunken Noodle Peanut Noodle The staff are super nice. Service is usually super-fast. I have shown up at lunch time and all tables are full. The decor is nothing to write about, but that's fine. I don't personally like TVs in a restaurant. They have one, and it has always been silent, if on. They have a that-music soundtrack on repeat that I pretty much know by heart. But I'm a regular. You'll get a nice portion for around $10. Recommended.

My lunch buddy and I went to Spicy Bangkok last week for well... lunch. It's a relatively new place and it was recommended to me by someone in a local shop. When we went in there were 3-4 tables occupied. The restaurant was clean and well lit. I ordered the drunken noodles with pork. It came piping hot, so hot I had to wait for it to cool down before I could eat it, with a lot of pork (more than most other Thai places) and drowned in gravy. I know most people like a lot of gravy, but I don't like it too much. I asked for it to be medium spicy, and the waitress warned us that medium was pretty hot. She was right, their medium is much hotter than most other restaurants, still it was perfect for my palate. My friend ordered the Curry Noodles with tofu, and said that it was quite good. He also commented on the fact that there was more than normal amounts of sauce in his dish. The reason Spicy Bangkok is missing the fifth star is because I felt like their food was missing something. There is that little bit of room for improvement...

Very good Thai carry out. I normally order the pad Thai curry with no complaints. Competitively priced to other Thai in the area. Dine in is not as large as Sawasdee however.

Visiting from San Francisco and this is the best Thai food I've ever had. Amazing amazing service as well

Great service. Loved the Phad Thai - perfect sweetness and spice. Loved the rice. I'm Asian so the rice was like mom makes it. Not like uncle bens.

My boyfriend and I LOVE this restaurant! The owner is so incredibly nice, as well as her family (the wait staff). The food is full of flavor, and there is so much variety on the menu. I love the three's company fried rice (FULL of veggies and meat and fresh-made to order, unlike other restaurants), my boyfriend raves about the pho, and my best friend loves the cheesy noodle. As for appetizers, try the crab ragoon or lucky shrimp. You can't go wrong with any of them, really.

Nice little place, have been there a few times. First time, ordered Pad Thai Chicken, medium. Good thing because it was pretty HOT! Tonight was Sesame Chicken, also medium. Probably the best I've ever had locally. Unlike many Asian restaurants, they cut their veggies to proportion, even splitting the baby corn. So many places give you great big chunks mixed in with the meat and it doesn't blend well. I think the bad reviews here are par for the course considering the snooty demographics of the area. A woman picking up carry-out actually got very angry tonight when the server, who didn't take her order, asked her if she had already paid for it. The server just smiled as the woman threw a bit of a tantrum. I would take poor reviews with a grain of salt and give Spicy Bangkok a try.

Stopped in here to get a quick bite while shopping in the area. I am not impressed. The hot n sour soup that came with lunch needed more sour. I ordered a Thai restaurant mainstay- pad pak with chicken. Well, at least the veggies weren't overcooked. Mostly they were barely cooked. And the counterpoint to that was the chicken, which tasted like it had been cooked ahead of time and tossed into the mix to be warmed up. Blech. Man, how long does it take to stir fry small chunks of chicken on a per-order basis? Please. I would not go back.

First time to eat here. The chicken rice ginger soup was delicious. The Gang Dang with shrimp was also very good. I ordered medium spicy. I was sweating but very happy. The ingredients were fresh and the service was good. This will defiantly be a regular for lunch. I look forward to trying other dishes. A five star for me.
